Scene & Heard is participating in The Big Give Christmas Challenge – an opportunity for us to double on-line donations during the first week of December. Our goal is to raise £20,000 – more than enough to fund next autumn’s Playmaking One course. This blog should answer any questions you may have, and keep you up to date on the latest news in the run-up to December 5th 2011.

The Big Give - an apology from Scene & Heard
We are so sorry for the frustrations that many of you have experienced trying to participate in the Big Give. Scene & Heard is completely dependent on donations from our volunteers, supporters and their colleagues and friends. We thought that the Big Give Christmas Challenge would be an opportunity to make your generosity go further, but it has caused a lot of frustration with our volunteers, supporters and the office.
The Big Give exhausted its allocated matching funds for the day and stopped doubling donations much earlier than expected on both Tuesday and Wednesday; on Wednesday they stopped doubling by 10:15am.
If you are one of our prospective donors who we know are now determined to get their donation doubled, and want to attempt a 10:00am donation promptly on Thursday or Friday morning, please click here to donate.
If that's just asking too much, we will be able to access up to £8,000 of matching funds already promised from our own sponsors through the Big Give website after donations close this Friday 9 December until Thursday 22nd December, via http://tinyurl.com/SandHBigGive .
Thank you again for all you do for Scene & Heard and we apologise again for the frustration and confusion that The Big Give has caused.

Be an Early Bird for Scene & Heard
The Big Give is complicated - if you don't get your donation in early enough during the day they can run out of available funding to DOUBLE it - even thought they have given away £7 million pounds so far the matching funding available ran out this morning in under half an hour!
If you or someone you know have plans to donate to Scene & Heard, please be online at the Big Give website promptly at 10am PROMPT tomorrow, so that you can be sure that The Big Give can make your kind donation go twice as far.
Thank you for your generosity!

Don't take our word for it!

"Bravo, bravo!
The Plays last night were wonderful, truly wonderful.
Congratulations to all of the Scene and Heard team, volunteers, theatre professionals and, of course, the children (and the families who support them). Just by setting such amazing standards term by term does not make the challenges nor successes fewer; you amaze me with what you achieve.
Keep up the fine work."

Why should you donate to Scene & Heard?
We thought we'd share with you a couple of emails we've had in the office in the last two days.
This is from a parent of two of the children we work with.
"Our oldest son has done really well over the last year. He passed his Maths GCSE with an ‘A’ grade this summer at the end of Year 8 and was student of the year from 200 pupils. He is also captain of his successful local football team. His brother has also done well in his studies and has won various awards. Their progress is in no small part down to their time at Scene & Heard. Where they grew up as individuals outside the school environment. They developed a personality and an enthusiasm for getting on with things that we are all very appreciative of."
